Revelation 1:7 says, “Behold, He comes with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so, Amen.It stands to reason that when seeing the Lord come with clouds, everyone will welcome His coming with great joy, but why is it said that “all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him”?”
Today, let’s explore and fellowship to see what the words “all kindreds of the earth shall wail” mean in Revelation 1:7 and how this verse will be fulfilled.
Quick Navigation
To know how the prophecy in Revelation 1:7 will come true, let’s look for the answer in biblical prophecies about how the Lord will return. Actually, besides the prophecies in the Bible concerning the Lord coming openly on a cloud, there are other prophecies which tell of the Lord coming secretly. For instance, Revelation 16:15, “Behold, I come as a thief.” And Matthew 25:6, “And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go you out to meet him.” The words in these verses, “as a thief” and “at midnight there was a cry made” are referring to the Lord coming quietly and in secret in the last days.
Besides, Matthew 24:27 says, “For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even to the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be you also ready: for in such an hour as you think not the Son of man comes.” Luke 17:24–25 says, “For as the lightning, that lightens out of the one part under heaven, shines to the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in His day. But first must He suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.” In these verses, the Lord Jesus mentioned many times that His return will be “the coming of the Son of man.” The “Son of man” refers to someone born of man and with normal humanity. If He were to appear directly to man in a spiritual body, then He couldn’t be called the Son of man. For example, Jehovah God is the Spirit, and so can’t be called the Son of man. The incarnate Lord Jesus is called the Son of man and Christ because He was the incarnation of the Spirit of God who became an ordinary, normal man and lived amongst man. Therefore, the “coming of the Son of man” and “the Son of man comes” that the Lord Jesus spoke of, mean that the Lord will come in the flesh when He returns in the last days. It’s because God will come secretly in the last days as the Son of man who appears ordinary and normal on the outside that people, just by looking at Him, will not be aware of His identity or recognize Him as the incarnate God; they will be liable to treat God incarnate like an ordinary person and thus will wantonly condemn and reject Him. Just like when the Lord Jesus appeared and worked in the flesh, He was condemned and rejected by man.
Now that we’ve known there are prophecies about the Lord coming secretly as the Son of man, it’s easy to understand how the prophecy in Revelation 1:7 will be fulfilled. According to the prophecies, the Lord’s return will first be in secret, and after that He will openly appear to man on a cloud. Then how will these 2 ways of the Lord’s return be fulfilled?
The Lord Jesus prophesied, “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come” (John 16:12–13). “He that rejects Me, and receives not My words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” (John 12:48). 1 Peter 4:17 says, “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God.” Revelation 3:12 says, “Him that overcomes will I make a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go no more out.” We can see from these verses that when the Lord returns in the last days, He will express the truth and perform the work of judgment beginning with God’s house. That’s to say, in the last days God will first become incarnate in secret as the Son of man to express His words and to perform the work of judging and purifying man. All those who accept the judgment and chastisement of God’s words and have their corrupt dispositions purified and changed while God incarnate is working in secret are wise virgins and the overcomers who are made before the disasters, and they can enjoy the everlasting blessings bestowed by God. When God incarnate’s work to save man in secret is over, God will rain down great disasters to reward the good and punish the wicked, and then will appear openly to all nations and peoples. At that time, all those who resist, reject and condemn God during His period of secret work will be dumbfounded, they will all see that the one whom they have been resisting, condemning and rejecting is indeed the returned Lord Jesus, Christ of the last days, and thus they will beat their chests, weep and gnash their teeth. So, that’s how the scene will arise of the wailing of all peoples. This fulfills the prophecy in Revelation 1:7, “Behold, He comes with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so, Amen.” From God’s work, we see how righteous, almighty and wise God is.
Now, the Lord has returned secretly in the flesh as Almighty God, Christ of the last days. Almighty God began to appear and work in 1991, has expressed millions of words since then—all the truths for cleansing and saving mankind—and is doing the work of judgment beginning with God’s house. Almighty God’s appearance and work precisely fulfills the prophecies of the Lord coming in secret, and has shaken all religions and denominations. God’s sheep hear His voice—all genuine believers who thirst for the truth, have read Almighty God’s words and have determined that they are all the truth and God’s voice. One after another, they have accepted Almighty God and been raptured before God’s throne. All those who accept God’s work of judgment through words can cast off the bonds of sin, attain God’s purification and salvation and be made into overcomers before the disasters. The present time is the stage of Almighty God’s hidden work of saving mankind. Almighty God expresses His words to judge and purify people. Once He has made a group of overcomers, God’s great work will be accomplished and the incarnate God’s work of the hidden advent will come to an end. God will then begin to unleash the great disasters to reward the good and punish the wicked. All those who are made into overcomers before the disasters will gain God’s protection and survive. However, those who don’t accept the work of the secret coming of Almighty God in the last days, and instead judge and condemn Christ of the last days are the antichrists revealed by God’s work of the last days, and they are the evil servants, the tares, and those who pierce God. Ultimately, they will be abandoned and eliminated by God; the prophecy in Revelation 1:7 will be fulfilled in them—they will weep and gnash their teeth and feel extreme regret. Therefore, if we want to avoid being those who weep and gnash their teeth, and if we want to be made into overcomers before the disasters and enter God’s kingdom, then we must accept the judgment and purification of Almighty God’s words. If we never seek or accept the work of the secret coming of Almighty God, then we will certainly be caught amidst the disasters and punished. Just as Almighty God’s words say, “Many people may not care what I say, but I still want to tell every so-called saint who follows Jesus that, when you see Jesus descend from the heaven upon a white cloud with your own eyes, this will be the public appearance of the Sun of righteousness. Perhaps that will be a time of great excitement for you, yet you should know that the time when you witness Jesus descend from the heaven is also the time when you go down to hell to be punished. That will be the time of the end of God’s management plan and it will be when God rewards the good and punishes the wicked. For the judgment of God will have ended before man sees signs, when there is only the expression of truth.”
