Revelation 20:11–12 prophesied, “And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.” These verses tell us that when the Lord returns in the last days, He will carry out the work of the great white throne judgement. So what is the great white throne judgement? How will the great white throne judgement come about? We will fellowship and answer these questions below.
Speaking of the great white throne judgement, most people will go by the literal meaning of scriptures, and think that God will place a gigantic table in mid-air, with God sitting on a great white throne and judging all people one by one. But is this understanding right? Actually, the great white throne judgement prophesied in Revelation is nothing more than a vision of God’s work in the last days, which John saw on Patmos Island, and is not a fact of God’s work. So we cannot go by a literal interpretation of the Bible. Those well-versed in the Bible know there are at least 200 places prophesying God’s work of judgment in the last days. If we conclude that when the Lord returns, He will sit on a great white throne in the sky and judge all peoples, based on the literal meaning of this one prophecy in Revelation, then, aren’t we making too much of a subjective assertion? This way, deviations and errors will easily occur. If we want to understand what the great white throne judgement is, we must integrate many other verses about the work of judgment in our seeking, for only this is the correct approach.
Let’s look at a few prophecies relating to God’s work of judgment in the last days. It is written in the Book of Isaiah, “And He shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people” (Isaiah 2:4). “When Your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness” (Isaiah 26:9). The Book of Revelation prophesied, “And I saw another angel fly in the middle of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come” (Revelation 14:6–7). In the Gospel of John, there are also the prophecies, “And has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of man” (John 5:27), and “For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment to the Son” (John 5:22). And so on.
These prophecies clearly state, “having the everlasting gospel to preach to them that dwell on the earth,” and “the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.” This shows that in the last days, God will carry out His judgment on earth, not in the sky. In addition, these verses also mention “has committed all judgment to the Son” and “And has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of man.” The “Son” or “Son of man” means the One who is born of man and who is possessed of normal humanity. Take the Lord Jesus, for example. From the outside He looked like a common and normal person, but He had God’s Spirit within Him and possessed the essence of God. God’s Spirit or God’s spiritual body can’t be called the Son of man. We can confirm from this that in the last days, God will do the work of judgment on earth, by incarnating as the Son of man, and not in the sky. So the majority’s belief that “the great white throne judgement is at a big white throne up in the heavens where God sits and hands down His judgment” is just a notion and an imagining of man, and not a fact of God’s work.
We’ve seen now that the great white throne judgement is not carried out in the sky but on earth, so how is the great white throne judgement to be fulfilled? To understand this question, we must first know how God will do the work of judgment when He incarnates into the world in the last days. The Lord Jesus once prophesied, “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come” (John 16:12–13). “He that rejects Me, and receives not My words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” (John 12:48). “Sanctify them through Your truth: Your word is truth” (John 17:17). 1 Peter 4:17 says, “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God.” And Revelation 22:14 prophesied, “Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” As can be seen, when the Lord returns in the last days, He will express the truth and do the work of judgment beginning with God’s house—He will use His words to judge and purify all those who come before His throne. That is to say, God will use the truth to sanctify, cleanse and change people so that they can thoroughly cast off the bonds of sin and be led into God’s kingdom in the end.
Although our sins are already forgiven through our faith in the Lord, our inner sinful natures have not yet been resolved and our satanic dispositions still remain, such as arrogance, conceit, crookedness, deceitfulness, selfishness and baseness. So even if we outwardly do good deeds and don’t commit any great evil, we are still constantly sinning and can’t keep the Lord’s teachings. For example, our lips say we love and satisfy the Lord, but since we have a selfish and despicable satanic nature within us, our hard work is transactional and we try to exchange our external good deeds for the blessings to enter the heavenly kingdom. We well know that we should exalt and bear witness to the Lord when we expend for the Lord, but we always brag about how much we have suffered and what a great price we have paid, in order to make others support, worship and look up to us—we are vying for position with God. We well know that the Lord Jesus requires us to be honest people, yet we still can’t help but lie and cheat when our own interests are involved. These are just a few examples. The Lord Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin. And the servant stays not in the house for ever: but the son stays ever” (John 8: 34–35). In Hebrews 12:14, it says, “Holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” So can we, who sin so often, be qualified to enter the kingdom of heaven if God doesn’t do the work of judgment and purification? Won’t we all be punished according to God’s righteousness?
Therefore, to completely save mankind from sin, God will again incarnate as the Son of man in the last days and will express the truth to do the work of judging and cleansing mankind. This is the great white throne judgement prophesied in Revelation. When the incarnate God begins to express the truth and do the work of judgment to purify and save corrupt mankind is the time when the great white throne judgement in the last days begins. Judgment must start from the house of God. All those who accept God’s work of judgment in the last days are recipients of His judgment, cleansing, and complete salvation. They are people who are raptured and return before God’s throne, and those God will make into a group of overcomers before the disasters. Then, God will bring down the great disasters and start to reward the good and punish the wicked, until this evil era has been destroyed. God’s great white throne judgement in the last days will then be thoroughly complete. After that, God will openly appear to begin a new era. All those who have undergone the judgment of God’s words and experienced the cleansing of their corrupt dispositions, when God becomes flesh to work as the Son of man, will survive the great disasters. Only these people are wise virgins whose name will be recorded in the book of life. They will be brought into God’s kingdom and into the next age. Conversely, those who deny and condemn God’s work of the last days, while the incarnate God is working, will sink into the great disasters, weeping and gnashing their teeth.
Today, across the whole world, only The Church of Almighty God openly testifies that the Lord Jesus has returned as Almighty God, Christ of the last days. Almighty God has expressed the truth and performed the work of judgment beginning with God’s house, to cleanse and change man. This entirely fulfills the great white throne judgement in the Book of Revelation. So then, how does God use His words to judge and purify man? Let’s read some of Almighty God’s words, and then we will know.
Almighty God says, “Christ of the last days uses a variety of truths to teach man, to expose the substance of man, and to dissect the words and deeds of man. These words comprise various truths, such as man’s duty, how man should obey God, how man should be loyal to God, how man ought to live out normal humanity, as well as the wisdom and the disposition of God, and so on. These words are all directed at the substance of man and his corrupt disposition. In particular, the words that expose how man spurns God are spoken in regard to how man is an embodiment of Satan, and an enemy force against God. In undertaking His work of judgment, God does not simply make clear the nature of man with a few words; He exposes, deals with, and prunes over the long term. All these different methods of exposure, dealing, and pruning cannot be substituted with ordinary words, but with the truth of which man is utterly bereft. Only methods such as these can be called judgment; only through judgment of this kind can man be subdued and thoroughly convinced about God, and moreover gain true knowledge of God. What the work of judgment brings about is man’s understanding of the true face of God and the truth about his own rebelliousness. The work of judgment allows man to gain much understanding of the will of God, of the purpose of God’s work, and of the mysteries that are incomprehensible to him. It also allows man to recognize and know his corrupt essence and the roots of his corruption, as well as to discover the ugliness of man. These effects are all brought about by the work of judgment, for the essence of this work is actually the work of opening up the truth, the way, and the life of God to all those who have faith in Him. This work is the work of judgment done by God.”
God’s words are very clear. God’s work of judgment in the last days is accomplished through God expressing the truth to judge man’s sins. God is not just expressing a few words, but He has already expressed all the truths to purify and save mankind. Almighty God has expressed millions of words and revealed all sorts of truths, such as how Satan corrupts mankind, how God saves mankind, the truths man should practice, who God blesses, who God eliminates, which people can be saved and enter the kingdom of heaven, and more. At the same time, God thoroughly exposes various satanic dispositions within people. Through experiencing the judgment and chastisement of God’s words, we, God’s chosen people, gradually come to see the truth of our corruption by Satan, and that our satanic dispositions, such as those of being arrogant and conceited, crooked and deceitful, selfish and despicable, evil and greedy, lying and deceiving, and feeling aversion to the truth, are still rooted deeply within us. For example, through the judgment and revelations of God’s words, we realize that we suffer, work, forsake things and expend ourselves for God not for the sake of loving God with all our heart, soul and mind, but to receive blessings, get rewards and enter the kingdom of heaven—these things we do for God are adulterated, and we are making deals with God, using Him to attain our goals, and deceiving Him. We see that we are too selfish and despicable. After we have seen clearly our own ugly face, our conscience awakens and we begin to become reasonable. We feel shame, guilt, remorse, and self-reproach; we begin to loathe ourselves and repent to God. We no longer forsake and expend to gain blessings and benefits but do so to perform the duty of created beings well, in order to repay God’s love, as well as to obey and satisfy God. This way, by continually practicing the truth, all our corrupt dispositions and incorrect views on pursuit will gradually be changed and cleansed.
Now the words expressed by Almighty God and His chosen people’s testimonies about their corrupt dispositions being purified through judgment and chastisement have been published online for all mankind to seek and investigate. This allows all people to see that Almighty God’s work of judgment in the last days can purify and save man, and that God has gained a group of people who are of the same mind as Him. God’s kingdom has already descended upon earth. Clearly, the prophecy in Revelation 11:15–17 has been fulfilled: “And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign for ever and ever. And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell on their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, We give You thanks, O LORD God Almighty, which are, and were, and are to come; because You have taken to You Your great power, and have reigned.”
Now the great disasters have begun to fall and God’s great white throne judgement in the last days has almost reached its end. If we await the Lord to carry out the great white throne judgement based on our notions and imaginings, and don’t investigate Almighty God’s work of judgment beginning with God’s house in the last days, we will lose the chance to be purified and saved and will be swept away by the great disasters with much weeping and gnashing of teeth.
